Outlook, the email client from Microsoft, facilitates everything from email messaging to scheduling your appointments and meetings. All in all, it’s a personal information manager. Outlook stores the personal information of the users in specific files of the personal storage table or PST format. Similarly, the contact information of the users is stored in Outlook Address Books.
The Outlook email setup also comprises of a default set of search folders, which enables the users to manage large quantities of email. These search folders are simply virtual folders that contain email messages, belonging under specific criteria.
If you check your Outlook program, you would find a virtual folder named as Unread Mail, which holds new messages that you’re yet to read. Sometimes, though, while checking the list of search folders, you may not find this folder. In such cases, you can create such a folder using the tools included in the Outlook 2007 interface.
Use the following guidelines to create an unread mail folder in Outlook 2007, so you don’t have to call up technical support:

- The first step involves opening the Microsoft Outlook application in your computer. For this, you can either click on the Outlook desktop icon, or select the application from the Windows Start menu.
- Once it is opened, you need to click on the Mail option, which you can find in the File menu. Now, click on the New option, followed by Search Folder from the Mail menu.
- In the next step, you need to choose the Unread Mail option. You can find this option listed under Reading Mail in the New Search Folder dialog box. You can also contact Outlook tech support anytime to know more about manipulating the current Outlook email setup.
- Here, you can also use the addition options available to customize the new folder. These include customizing the search folder to only include unread mail received from specific contacts, or specific messages that contain certain text strings.
- Now, you can create the new unread email folder by clicking OK. Once that is finished, you would see that the folder would be listed under Search Folders in the Navigation pane in the Outlook 2007 mail interface.
