Enabling The Email Forwarding Feature In Outlook Web Access

Outlook is an email application widely used for internal communication in a business organization. However, there are many, who use the application for personal communication as well. The users can set up their preferred email account in Outlook for personal communication. When the application is setup for office communication, you will need to access your office computer to read the inbox emails. Often, you may wonder if there is any way to access the emails you receive in your office email account outside the office. Well, if you have access to an internet connection, you can read the emails that come to your office email account. For this, you need to enable the email forwarding feature in your Outlook setting and use Outlook Web Access.

About Outlook Web Access

In order to forward your Outlook inbox emails to any of your web based email accounts, you need to configure the respective settings in Outlook Web Access, the web-based interface of Microsoft Outlook application. Here are the steps.

Instructions
  • Launch your Internet Explorer web browser and enter the web address of Outlook Web Access. 
  • When you are on the sign in page of Outlook Web Access, type your login credentials to log in. 
  • You will now be taken to the home page of Outlook Web Access. Locate and press the button titled Options (you would find it at the upper right corner of the window). 
  • Following this, press the link labelled Rules, which can be found on the left side of the window. 
  • After that, press the button named New rule and select the option labelled Create a new rule for arriving messages from the context menu. This should pop up a new screen. Find the link that states Forward or redirect from the section that says Do the following. 
  • This will display a list of options such as Redirect to people or distribution lists or Forward to people or distribution lists. 
  • After selecting the right option, press the link titled People or distribution lists. Select the email address to which you wish to forward or redirect the email. Once you are done, press the OK button. 
  • Next, press the Save button. This will save the changes you have made in the Outlook setting. 
You have now enabled the email forwarding in your Outlook application. Now, you would be able to read important emails delivered in your office email account even when you are away from your office system.
