In fact, Outlook does not have many competitors because most of the email clients do not have the features that would in Outlook. - You need to open Gmail and enable IMAP first.
- You need to then open your Gmail account.
- To choose Settings, below your name in the account, choose the wheel.
- Now select Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
- After making the changes, select the Save Changes button that you would find at the bottom.
- If you are new to Outlook, you would see the startup screen of Outlook.
- If you do not find the startup window, you need to go to the above screen by selecting Tools and then choose Account Settings and below Email tab, select Add New, and this will add a new email account.
- You will be asked whether to configure email account and you need to click Yes to confirm and click Next.
- A new window will open up and you will be asked to provide details. In the field to enter email address, you need to provide the email address of your Gmail account.
- In the field for password, you need to provide the password for your Gmail Account and click Next.
- Outlook setting for configuration will open up and after the completion of the configuration, you need to click Finish.
You need to set up password for your Outlook email client, by following the below steps.
- Find out the root folder for your Outlook mail.
- You need to right click the folder and choose Properties.
- Now choose Advanced and choose Change Password.
- You need to leave the field for Old Password empty and give a new password in the Password field.
- Now you need to restart Outlook once again.
