Synchronizing Gmail With Outlook Mail

Microsoft Outlook is the popular email client that comes as a part of the Microsoft Office suite. By using Microsoft Outlook, a user can synchronize the Gmail account in Outlook so that he/she can access the emails coming in Gmail account from Outlook. Instructions
  • Start the process by logging in to the Gmail account. Now, you need to click the Settings option in Gmail. Next, you have to select the option labeled Forwarding and POP/IMAP, followed by clicking Enable IMAP. Once completed, save the changes that you have made by clicking the Save Changes button. 
  • Now, you need to open the Outlook application in your system. Use the option called Add Gmail as a secondary account, if you have already configured any account in Outlook. If you are loading the program for the first time in Outlook 2007, you will see a window called New account. If you see the notification, then you are asked to click the option called Do not upgrade and continue to the next step by clicking the Yes button. 
  • Server type for your Gmail account should be set as POP3. Once it is selected, click the Next button. In the field called User Information, you should enter your Gmail address and name. Also, type pop.gmail.com as the Incoming Mail server and stmp.gmail.com as the Outgoing mail server. Now, type your full Gmail address and password in the corresponding fields. 
  • Next, you need to click the button called More Settings and access them by clicking the tab called Outgoing server. Now, you have to put a tick mark to the box seen next to My outgoing server requires authentication and make sure that the choice you have chosen is Use same settings. Similarly, enable the encrypted connection by check marking the box seen under the Incoming server and Outgoing server options. Similarly, enter the port numbers for Incoming and Outgoing mail server as 995 and 465 respectively.
  • Make the changes to take affect by clicking the OK button, followed by clicking the option called Test Connection. By clicking this, Outlook will start checking all your information and will connect with Gmail servers. If the connection is Ok, then click the button called Next followed by clicking Finish button.
  • Now you have successfully configured Gmail in Microsoft Outlook mail. As a result, you can access the emails that are coming in the Gmail account from the Outlook mail account.
