Password protection is one of the most basic methods to secure your data. It has become popular because of the rampant invasion of private information, data theft and many other malicious things. People should secure their own data to keep it protected from unknown threats or people. So, password protection has become increasingly popular and more and more people are doing it. Microsoft Windows Operating System provides passwords protection. But, for Microsoft Outlook, another Microsoft software, there is no such provision. This is one of the basic Outlook problems or shortcomings.
According to Microsoft, there is actually at this time no way to password protect Outlook if you need to step away from the computer, or at startup. So, sharing a computer with family or colleagues does pose a risk to your privacy. If other computer users have Outlook, then you can protect your Outlook profile from being public. Outlook gives profiles a file extension (.pst) that can be password protected. Though Microsoft Outlook does not offer a function for password-protecting the application, it does allow you to password-protect certain specific personal profiles stored in the program. The password encryption can protect your calendar, email, and tasks from access by unauthorized users. Once the password is configured or set, Outlook requests that you submit your password when you click to open your personal profile.
