Microsoft Ventures Ties Together Its Different Startup Support Activities

Microsoft Corporation has implemented some changes, they have tied up several different venture programs supported by them, and they have been consolidated into a single division called Microsoft Ventures. The same will now take care of all the startup support activities of Microsoft.

Tech expert Rahul Sood of Microsoft announced the release of the new implementation and he calls it as a “coordinated global effort that offers the tools, resources, expertise and routes to market by providing mentorship, technology guidance, seed funding, joint selling opportunities and other benefits."

Many have contacted the Microsoft help team to collect more information about Microsoft ventures. Let us check the major changes that you can expect in Microsoft ventures.

  • Microsoft Ventures is accommodating the BizSpark program, which was formed in 2008 and has been a long running program. It enables the access to development of products and software design of Microsoft and it offers training services to partners and startups. The training is normally offered for a period of three years and it is observed that about 45000 companies have already utilized this service. BizSpark had not changed considerably, but you can expect it to change even further as it is now included in Microsoft Ventures.
  • The company’s international accelerator venture has been expanded and the same has been termed Microsoft Ventures Accelerators and it has locations in Russia, Germany and Brazil. The total capital requirement for the tech startups is that they should have raised less than $1million and the program for them will extend for about six months. The lucky ones who are selected by Microsoft get training from them in design and tech development, in various tools, resources and others.  According to Rahul Sood, about 114 companies have acquired graduation and funds from this program.
  • Last year, Microsoft had offered funds to new companies in the form of Bing Fund and the startups would get from $50000 to $10000. The recipients of the Bing Funds got help from Microsoft with design and development help and they could also use the office space in the campus of Microsoft. This fund is expected to upgrade and we can expect Microsoft to look for matured companies the next time.
