Windows Vista includes two default themes which can give a unique look to your computers. Moreover you can customize the themes as per your wish. But some users complain that after several days of use they are experiencing some problems with these shortcut icons while trying to launch the particular program on their system. Click the start button that appears on the bottom left corner of your windows home screen to launch the start menu.

Click appearances and personalization option in the control panel home window.
To display the options for personalizing your system, trigger the personalization option.
Now select the theme option to launch the theme settings window.
Now select the Windows Vista theme from the available theme list followed by clicking the apply button to apply the particular theme.
When done, click the OK button to exit out the theme settings window. Now you successfully reset the default Windows Vista theme on your system.
How to troubleshoot Icon Cache in Windows Vista Operating system?
Click start and then select the computer option from the start menu.
Now double click the Local Disk to open it.
Now select the AppData folder and pick out the folder labeled local.
When done, right-click the IconCache.db files and then select delete option from the context menu thus formed. This automatically deletes the cached copy of icons including the corrupted ones.
Now windows ask for your confirmation to delete the cache icons. Click yes to confirm the deletion.
Once you finish deleting, don’t forget to empty your Recycle Bin.
Now restart your windows Vista machine and when it restarts, it automatically generates the IconCache.db file with new Windows Vista Icons.
