Microsoft Seeks Help To Fix The KB 2859537 Patch

Microsoft is now actively asking for dead bodies. These are nothing but computers that crash once the MS13-063 / KB 2859537 patch gets installed. If you are seeing a blue screen on your computer or your computer hangs when you sign-in after you have installed the patch, you can help trace down the source of the issue. This was confirmed by the Microsoft help team.
Microsoft had published a know issue paragraph in the KB2859537 Knowledge Base article. But, they had not pulled the patch. Now, the patch is no longer offered in the website and the paragraph on the Know issue has been modified.
The new paragraph says, “Some users may experience issues with certain programs after they install security update 2859537. In some cases the programs may not successfully start. We are also aware of limited reports that certain users may encounter difficulties restarting their computers after applying this security update. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.”
Since the MS13-063 is a Windows Kernel update, which is always causing problems, reaching into the inner chambers, a number of people have reported numerous problems with the patch. The most frequently reported issues are with Avast Internet Security, games like Rift, Defiance and Final Fantasy and these issues seem to be related to developers hooking into the kernel of the operating system in unexpected ways.
These can be considered as manageable issues and if you are still having troubles running the Rift game even after authentication, you may try installing the latest patches from Rift, which is available since 15th of August. Avast has solved the issue with a recent update, but the small game developers are yet to come up with an update.
This does not explain the unexpected blue screens 0x06B and frozen computers with 0xc0000005 errors. Jurgen Timmerman listed these problems in the Microsoft Answers forum.
  • BSOD with same 05 error code
  • Rift, Defiance, Final Fantast do not work any more
  • Application errors by opening
  • Some of the Control Panel functionalities do not work
  • Windows profiles corrupted
  • Unable to start IE, Firefox, or Chrome
  • Users cannot install applications or restart the computer
These are some of the issues with the latest updates from Microsoft. If you wish to know more on the issues, you can contact the Microsoft help team.
